Privacy Policy
Effective August 25, 2026 · kingfor1day.com
1. The short version
We collect the minimum needed to run an auction: the URL you bid with, your bid amount, an optional email for outbid alerts, and payment handled entirely by Stripe. Bids are public by design. We do not sell your data, run ad trackers, or build profiles.
2. What we collect and why
- Your bid entry. The URL or X handle you submit, your bid amount, and a timestamp. We fetch your URL once at bid time and store its public metadata (title, description, icon image) to display your entry. All of this appears publicly on the bid board and, for winners, in the Hall of Kings.
- Payment data. Payments run through Stripe Checkout. Your card number never touches our servers; we store only a Stripe order reference and the amount. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs what it collects.
- Notification email (optional). If you leave an email when bidding, we use it for exactly one thing: telling you when a later bid dethrones or outbids yours. It is stored separately from the public bid board, is never displayed, never shared for marketing, and is not used for anything else.
- Click counts. When a visitor clicks a listed entry, we increment that entry’s click counter before redirecting. We count clicks, not clickers — no visitor identity is recorded.
- Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent) for security and debugging.
3. What we don't do
- No sale or rental of personal data.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No marketing email — the notify address gets outbid alerts only.
- No accounts, so no passwords or profiles to breach.
4. Service providers
Running the site involves these processors:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — database storage for entries and notification addresses.
- Resend — delivery of outbid/dethroned emails.
- Icon services — entry icons may be fetched through Google, DuckDuckGo, or unavatar.io favicon endpoints. Those requests carry the entry’s domain, not anything about you.
Each provider receives only what its job requires and is bound by its own privacy terms.
5. How long we keep things
- Bid entries: kept for the cycle; winning entries remain in the public Hall of Kings indefinitely.
- Notification emails: kept while your entry is live; you can request deletion at any time.
- Payment references: kept as long as accounting requires.
6. Your rights
Email us to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you — including removing your email from notifications or requesting removal of a Hall of Kings entry you own. Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have formal rights to the same; we honor those requests regardless of geography.
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 where that is the threshold), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes to how we use the notification email will be announced to affected addresses before they take effect.
